Evaluation

(1)When sketching my designs I wanted to create a range surreal image so I came up with the idea of a large trainer in the middle of a field. My end design was made using photoshop and it turned out quite well.

(2)My idea was to advertise a trainer using in someway, lightning. I thought this would make my poster different and unusual, attracting the attention of potential costumers. My final design involved a picture of my shoes with red lightning coming out of them and I put this poster into a real life situation using photoshop.

(3)I animated the universal logo. At first it wasn't very good so I did it again and it was far better quality animation. I made these animations using clay and 'animate it' then I edited it and added music I made with GarageBand in iMovie.

reasearch

I did some research for comedy films with a 12 to 18 age range and I found these results:

I found that the posters for the first three films on the list on the website all appear humorous which must be how they catch the interest of there target audiance.

These designs are aimed at the general public and would be appealing to most audiences

comparison of illustrator and photoshop

Both Photoshop and Illustrator are used by graphic designers.

Photoshop works with pixels (tiny squares from which all digital images are made) and has its advantages over Illustrator as with this program it is easier to edit and adjust photos, which makes it a great tool for photographers and game designers, As well as graphic designers. In this way is brilliant for magazines who for example, might want their front cover editing. However its main disadvantage is that if you try to make an image to large it will become pixelated.

I used Photoshop to create a surreal composite image  using layers and the brush tool to bring parts of the bottom layer through to the top. and I enjoyed it very much. The only problem was concentrating on the individual pixels as doing this for long periods of time can hurt your eyes.

Illustrator works with vectors (straight lines which give you unlimited space to draw) is quite good for if someone wanted to draw a poster with a computer, but wanted a higher level of detail than a program like Microsoft's Paint. The variety of tools and shapes make it brilliant for poster design and would be good for graphic designers. However, it is very hard to find and apply certain tools on this program. I myself had to use the brush and blob brush tool to create the entire thing which I later added photos and text to, I attempted to use the shape tools but that went wrong so i just drew the shapes with the brush tools.

When I attempted to create a timeline for a chosen logo, it was not nearly as successful as my composite image. For a start I could barely find any of the tools and didn't manage to find the bucket tool so instead I had to use the blob brush tool. In my opinion, I could have created something of equal, probably better quality with the 2005 version of Microsoft paint.

Over all I think Photoshop is a better program then Illustrator because it is easier to use and I think it is more useful than Illustrator.

Composite image

I think my composite image was successful  because it includes an imaginative combination of two images. I think it fits the Eric Johansen style well an i think it is about B level

Pepsi Vs Coca'Cola

There has always been competition between the two brands because they both manufacture the same soft drink. However if I had never tried either, I wold be more likely to by pepsi because it has funnier adverts.

Shell logo timeline self assessment

.1.My final logo timeline design fits my product because it's a petrol pump, and shell sells petrol.
2.So we have a wide range of ideas to use and these ideas can be narrowed down to one idea.
.3.Ill probably use yellow and red as these are the colours of shell.
.4.The things this would improve would include the straightness of the lines, the sharpness of the shapes and the depth of the colours.

Evolution of the Burger King Logo

Evolution of the burger king logo.

When the first burger king opened in Miami 1954 people liked bright colours but now it wold look dated and and a little bit childish where as 1969 logo is a lot more suitable for a universal target market the 1994 logo is not very different to 1969 one apart from the font of the text and it has slightly lighter colours and the 1998 logo is very different, as it is very modern and we still have it today and will probably stay the same for many more years.

Visual Branding

The shell petrol station logo is a well recognised logo which has a bold but simplistic design. Despite its simplicity, it is a very clever design as a shell makes you think of fossils, which is what fuels sold by shell are made out of. I think there products are aimed at adults because only adults drive cars. If I were to change the logo I would not use a shell because now people know fossil fuels are bad but they didn't know this when shell was established in 1909.

The coca cola logo is really simple as it is just the words 'Coca'Cola' in a swirly font but for some reason this simple design is one of the most iconic and popular image ever. I think it has a universal target market. I would not make any changes to this because I think any changes would make sales drop. The Coca Cola logo has been the same for over 150 years ad I don't see why it should change.

The burger king logo is the words 'BURGER KING' in what seems to be a bread roll with a blue swoosh around it.it is simple, bold and instantly recognisable. I think it has a universal target market. If I was going to redesign the burger king logo I would try to make it sound more healthy, however I am not sure how to do so without lying.
